Today was a very busy work day. I traversed several hundred miles, all told, in addition to teaching a bit and doing some prep work. But the whole day I just wanted to get home, hoping that I would make it home before my energy was used up. I want to do craft projects! Tonight, sadly, was not the night -- I got home, made a bit of dinner, and was too tired for a fun project. The upside? I get to spend more time thinking about my next art/craft projects!
So far, this is what's on the list:
- lamp re-do
- chair re-do
- easy skirt
- t-shirt quilt
- fabric globes
- Mod Podge coasters
- some sort of art with trees/birds ("Put a bird on it!")
Last night I was thinking that I need to add to that list. Every evening, Honey and I have wine with dinner. Wine is a passion -- we love to drink it, love to brew it. This past harvest (2010), I helped haul in over 3,000 pounds of grapes to make God-only-knows how many cases of wine. That leaves me wondering: what should I do with all the old cork? Surely there must be some sort of creative project! I've seen a few ideas that appeal to me:
- cork trivet
- cork bath mat (which I would probably see about turning into some sort of cork back porch mat)
Anyone have other/better ideas? I'm looking for something that is more Martha Stewart/Pottery Barn than Average Two Year Old/I Just Went Dumpster Diving.
And to my family, I am just going to preempt you right now and say this: "Put a bird on it!' does not solve this particular dilemma.
Thank you.
LOL put a bird on it...so funny!!
ReplyDeletesounds like quite a list. good luck!
Make a cork board! I have loved that idea from Pottery Barn-ish stores for a long time. It would take me about ten years to collect enough corks to make one because I'm the only one who drinks wine in our house. Plus being pregnant kinda limits my consumption! Can't wait to see what you come up with. It would be kinda funny if you could find a way to put a bird on it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I started in on a few projects today after work even though it's not Saturday (my crafty day) yet -- some of these projects will take a bit more time.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I think that I will make a cork board as one of the projects. You know the funny thing? Last night as I was falling asleep I was thinking of ways to put a bird on it. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have lots on list...have fun doing it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I figured I couldn't wait until Saturday, my crafty/home projects day, so I've started on a few things already. We'll see how they go! :-)
